Pressure

There are many different things that fall under the word of pressure. On a daily basis pressure brings on stress to get good grades in class, make sure all homework is done and you study. With work we feel pressure to get all our job duties done within our scheduled shift. We face peer pressure from others at one point or another in our lives. I think peer pressure never really goes away there is always that one person pressing a certain situation no matter what age you are. It all depends on how you take the pressure some people work great under it or can loose their minds. You can deal with pressure in many ways don't overwhelm yourself, don't wait till the last minute for homework or studying. At work don't horse play get the job done. As for peer pressure that is always a tough one it's not always easy to do the right thing and sometimes we have to make those wrong choices to make us a better person.

Criticism

Criticism is something we all do and have encountered in our lives. It may be in the form of bad criticism or good. I think it all depends on the person receiving it or giving it. There are ways to give criticism diligently and there's plain out harsh and cruel ways. Some people no matter how you give it to them, even if your criticizing with the best intentions just can't handle it. You can't just think of criticism as harsh judgement, rather you can look at it in postive ways. If I'm doing something wrong or not to my full potential it's nice sometimes to have a reality check. Criticism can help you be better at something, it's not always just bad. You can always turn negative into a positive light. It's not always easy hearing judgements passed upon you, but either you can take it and cry about it or do something to change it for the better. How we react determines everything. Criticism can be very beneficial if you react to it that way, it helps mold us into who we will and can become.

If you have no critics you'll likely have no success.

Common Sense

Common sense is something everyone should possess , unfortunately a lot of people lack it. We think this is a normal characteristic for most, but some people find it challenging to have common knowledge. When I think of common sense there is a few people that instantly pop into my head lol!! I know some people that are extremely smart, but when it comes to simple things they suddenly become brain dead. I guess we all have our moments. Everyone has certain areas they excel in more then others, were for the most part all different. So what my idea of common sense is, another my perceive it in a completely different way. Some of us are just born with it or develop it has we grow. Common sense to me is about knowing the obvious, right from wrong, black from white, up and down, type of knowledge. You don't have to be a genius in order to acquire common sense it just comes easy. Common sense is usually the easy answer and not a difficult challenge, no struggles. If a stove is hot are you going to touch it? I hope the answer is no for most. When your mom says "why don't you go play on the freeway"? Hopefully you won't take her serious lol, but hey I guess those that lack it are screwed.

Humility

Humility is about being humble, and respectful of others. Not thinking that your better then everyone else judging others, and solely putting yourself first. It's about taking the time to do things for others as well. A simple respect or appreciation goes along way. I mean I know some people that all they do is talk about me this me that. Even well having a conversation with them and they ask me something  like how have you been?, well responding somehow it goes right back to them. At the end of the day no one likes that. Especially now days it's so sad to see how some young kids act with no respect for anyone, and how they can treat people so wrong. The way I look at it is why not do nice things, try to live a honest life to the best we can. You can see someone needs help and either step up to the plate and help or turn the other cheek. For me I do simple acts as letting someone know their money is falling out of their pocket, or let someone have my parking space if I still have money on the meter. Little things count and I figure eventually all my good deeds will help me out whenever I may get stuck and need someone. Humility is a great quality to have it allows us to try and live a non-selfish life. To be courtesy and respectful to others, and keeping us good with ourselves. No one is perfect but at the end of the day I'm happy with the life I live, but I know there is always room for improvement and lessons as I grow. I rather live a honest life with some sense of morals then the wrong life.

Attitude

Life is all about attitudes; it can mean different things to everyone. Attitude is all about how we portray ourselves, how others see us. You can just meet someone and see they have a bad attitude, just hating life. Or others who are extremely happy with a positive attitude. I have some friends that no matter what life may throw at them, their attitude never changes they still remain happy and friendly to everyone. Sometimes you go into a store and the cashier has a horrible attitude and very rude, based off of that it makes you angry. For me my attitude changes based on situations I may come across, but in the end I find having a bad attitude really gets you no where. You come off as a jerk, and that's not cool. Apparently since I'm short it's natural for me to have a feisty attitude, I guess it's a short thing ha. Overall having nothing but a negative attitude makes people judge you too quickly even if you are the nicest person in the world. So if I'm having the worse day ever, and may have to work I will still try to put on my best face and continue my day. Your attitude can play a part in other people’s day as well; it can have a ripple effect. I don’t know about others, but I don’t want to be known as the chick with the bad attitude, that reputation can have consequences on other areas of your life. I want to live my life to my best ability and not waste my energy hating it.

Dependability

Dependability is a key tool that we use in many different aspects of our lives. You never want to be know as that person who no one can count on, or is a flake, very unreliable. Dependability is in every act we do whether people realize it or not. It goes hand in hand for jobs, friendships, relationships, students. A company will not want to hire someone who they can't depend on.  They want someone responsible, loyal, and trustworthy, someone they know will get the job done. In friendships I know I personally want someone I can trust and know that if I ever need anything they would be there for me. Same goes for a relationship I don't want to date someone that I feel I can't depend on them for nothing. In the class room teachers depend on us to respect them well their teaching to be curiosity of others and so forth. Dependability is definitely a quality everyone needs to have or at least acquire over time. It will help you out in life as you go without you really knowing it. A simple act of being able to be the person that someone can depend on to help or just get the job done is always a good thing. Your the person people can look up by example a leadership role.

Honesty

Honesty I  feel is the most important value point in almost everything we do. Especially when it involves any relationship friendship, love, brother and sister, boss and coworker, teacher and student. If there is nothing but false pretenses what is the point of having a relationship with someone? Honesty is the key to any successful endeavor in our lives I feel. I mean I'm not innocent or naive everyone including myself has told a a lie, but I've learned sometimes it comes back to haunt you. Do I try to always be honest for sure, but sometimes I do know there are situations where a little white lie can spare someones feelings rather then the brutal truth for those with less tolerance on criticism. I have some friends who can't take the truth for nothing without being over dramatic so in some cases you just learn how to work with different people's personality and accommodate that friendship as best as possible, and even though they may not want to hear it, sometimes they just need to know it. I's just how you do or say things to them. Simply by telling the truth you never have to remember all the lies you've told the truth will set you free =).

Cherish the friend who tells you a harsh truth, wanting ten times more to tell you a loving lie.  ~Robert Brault

Planning

People can go about planning in different ways. Plan a night out with friends, plan a vacation, plan a move, plan a wedding, plan a lifetime of expectations. With planning it just all depends on the situation for me, I suppose. I do have plans for my future education wise and where I'd like to see myself in the next 3 to 5 years or so. As for plans to hang out or stuff like that, I'm more of a go with the flow type of person. I guess I just do things as they come. I know not to have that high of expectations for planning, because no matter how much you plan things happen. So you always have to prepare for the unexpected, allow room for errors. Planning is different for everyone, some people spend their whole lives with a plan and really don't know what to do when things go a stray. I'm basically taking it one day at a time and making some plans as I go.  Everybody has their certain styles, things that work for them. My go as it happens style works for me, taking things as they come. You miss all of what life has to offer when your busy planning every moment.

Goals

If you want to make your dreams come true, the first thing you have to do is wake up.  ~J.M. Power

Goals are something everyone at one point has. They're not always easy to detect and some of us still aren't even quiet sure of what they are. My goals have changed so many times, but it's all about the process of growing up and finding yourself. That in itself is a struggle, and the simple act of finding out who you are is a success. I'm still not sure of exactly what I'll end up doing, but that's OK. I've never been that person to sit around and not do anything. I want things out of life and I go for it full force. Ever I since I was 16, I started to work at my school in the student store and picking up different jobs. I always had a thing for retail, so my major was business. Over time I have thought of other possibilities criminal justice being a cop, the medical field being a nurse. Till finally one day I just thought about how so many people came to me about their problems and for advice. I knew I wanted to give psychology a try. So now here I am back in school, getting the education I need to learn as much as I can about psychology. With this field there is endless opportunities for careers. My goal is to go for my PH.d and eventually figure out what field of psychology I would like to enter. I know we all tend to stray from our goals and life can happen differently but no matter what I won't give up.

Hard Work

I feel everyone has their own perspectives of hard work. Hard work to me is working for the nicer things in life. Actually caring about your job, in aspects of how it appears, quality of it, overall having pride in it. I know about hard work, I work hard at my job and it pays off I can get what I want. I take pride in my job a my frozen section, I make sure it always looks the best that it can. I don't do short cuts what's the point I'll just make more work for myself later. I think you should get things done the right way the first time. I definitely get annoyed at others who do nothing, but I know laziness does not pay off. Working hard can take you to different levels, make you strive for something more. The appreciation of a job well done is always nice. I know my bosses see me as a hard worker.  Going to school full time and working full time has been one crazy ride, but in the end I know it will all take me somewhere. I'm not ashamed to say if I don't understand something if someone is better at a certain thing I want to learn from them. Expertise isn't everything someone my have a new approach or out look on the job, a fresh new set of eyes. I want input it always helps me to make myself more useful. I know what hard work is so much that I'm 25 and have carpal tunnel already lol. I wouldn't change working so hard it's help me grow into the person I am today. =)

Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.  ~Thomas Edison
